Yshani Robin Clewley

As a multi-genre pianist and music director, Yshani has performed at venues from Royal Opera House to the London Palladium and with artists from Ruthie Henshall to Kate Nash. Yshani was music director / conductor for triple-Oliver winner Emilia at the west End’s vaudeville Theatre, Kurt Weill’s Street Scene for Paris Opera, and circus troupe Circa at the Barbican. As a composer, commissions range from for the London Sinfonietta, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, and music for a farce about Fanny Mendelssohn. She is currently music director of new music-theatre work The F**gots and Their Friends Between Revolutions by Philip Venables & Ted Huffman, co-commissioned, next performing at the Park Avenue Armory, New York.

As an improviser, she has played with the Oliver-award winning Showstopper! the Improvised Musical, Comedy Store Players, Mischief Movie Night, Paul Merton & Suki Webster, Nina Conti, Austentatious The Maydays, Glenda J Collective and Rambert Dance Company.

Yshani was winner of the 10th Yamaha Accompanist of the Year Award, and was a scholar at the Royal College of Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She is a regular guest broadcaster on BBC Radio 3.
