Steve Steen
Steve Steen began his career at the Oval House Theatre Club in South London working with such actors as Pierce Brosnan, John Ratzenberger and Tim Roth.
With his lifelong friend Jim Sweeney he formed various theatre companies including The Omelette Broadcasting Company and The Rupert Pupkin Collective that toured the length and breadth of the UK as well as Europe . When the cabaret circuit began, they became Sweeney and Steen, the first to bring improvisation to a cabaret audience their ground breaking work in improvisation earned them a residency of shows at Jongleurs and The Donmar Warehouse.
Lots of theatre followed by Radio and TV and Steve appeared on shows such as Blackadder III, A bit of Fry and Laurie, Red Dwarf, Spitting Image, The Rory Bremner Show, Have I got News for You ,CBTV, Little Armadillos, Whose Line is it Anyway, The Staggering Stories of Ferdinand de Bargos, Bremner, Bird and Fortune and The Paul Merton Show .
He also starred in Paul Merton’s film directing debut, The Suicidal Dog.
He toured three solo shows of Bill Bryson’s travelogue books for the stage, playing over two hundred characters and has continued his improvisational comedy work with The Comedy Store Players and Paul and Suki’s Impro Show in London. He tours regularly with the International Impro All Stars.
In 2005 he played Trevor Dickens in Theatre of Blood at the National Theatre.
In Eastenders in 2018, he played the alcoholic children’s entertainer Magic Marv. That trended higher than the Queen on X/ Twitter. He was also seen as Peter Bowles and Sylvia Sims’ son, in the critically acclaimed 2018 film Together. He also starred as a Romanian chicken farmer who magically appears in a woman's bath in a 2019 short film called It Could Happen To You.
He regularly appears at The Galway Comedy Festival and at Altitude, the Comedy Festival in Mayrhofen, Austria and in the International Impro All Stars on the Virgin Comedy festival cruises.
