Luisa Omielan

Luisa Omielan is a stand-up, improviser and actress who has been performing on the London circuit since May 2008. Luisa was the underground smash hit at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2012 where she performed her 5 Star, critically acclaimed, debut solo show What Would Beyonce Do?! – strongly agreed to be one of the most successful debut shows to come out of the Fringe. After a sell-out run at The Comedy Cafe she performed 10 nights in the main house at Soho Theatre – extra dates were added due to phenomenal public demand, eventually leading to the run being extended five times in all. Luisa then took her show back to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2013 for a limited run at the Gilded Balloon. This “limited” run then got extended for a further 7 runs due to popular demand! 2014 saw Luisa performing What Would Beyonce Do?! across the pond in LA at the prestigious Upright Citizens Brigade and in New York where she did a 4 night run at Subculture, Bleeker Street. She has also had a string of sold out UK dates in 2014 including performances at Latitude Festival, The Royal Albert Hall and the Udderbelly on Southbank, as well as taking the show to Dublin and Singapore comedy festivals.  2014 saw Luisa record her first comedy pilot for Radio 2, Luisa Omielan’s Party, perform a West End run of ‘What Would Beyonce Do?!‘ and grace our TV screen multiples times. She was also invited to perform her solo show for 10 nights with Just For Laughs at the Montreal Comedy Festival – she was 1 of only 3 comics invited over from the UK. In August of last year Luisa took her latest show Am I Right Ladies?! up to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival as a follow up to the debut. She received an overwhelming amount of attention and had 4 and 5 star reviews across the board. The show was featured in The Guardian, The British Comedy Guide, The Times, The Metro, The Evening Standard and the Independent. She returned to the Fringe this year for a limited run of the show due to huge demand. Currently, a clip of the show filmed in Montreal has over 30,000,000 views online. 2015 started with a sold out Soho Theatre run of her current show followed by an Australian tour including Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane and Melbourne. A fan-funded campaign led to Luisa filming her debut DVD at London’s Bloomsbury Theatre, to be released later this year. She also has appearances at Latitude, Reading, Leeds and V Festivals and the Vodafone Comedy Festival. In early August, Luisa hosted a night at the BBC’s Edinburgh Festival tent, showcasing her favourite stand ups at the Fringe.
