Angie McEvoy

Angie McEvoy has a sweet and laid back stage persona, fused with a dry and cutting wit.  In May 2005 Angie made history by being the first female comedienne (of any nationality) to perform stand-up in Russia. Angie launched her career at the Edinburgh Festival in 2000, when she was voted runner-up in the BBC New Comedy Awards. She has since become a very skilled performer and achieved critical acclaim. Angie’s Festival credits include Leicester Comedy Festival, Belfast Comedy Festival and Edinburgh Festival (Big Value Show). In July 2005 she will be appearing at the Respect Festival. She’s also performed in Amsterdam and Berlin as part of the OTK Roadshow and at the Funny Women Gala in March 2005, to celebrate International Women’s Day. Angie’s many radio and TV appearances include Woman’s Hour (BBC Radio 4), Jeremy Vine Show (BBC Radio 2), LBC, regular on appearances on BBC London and Richard & Judy (Ch4), The World Stands Up (Paramount Comedy), BBC New Comedy Awards and BBC Stars of Tomorrow. As a writer, Angie is excellent at writing comedy ‘to order’ for television discussion shows, panel games and radio shows. She is good at working under pressure and can produce material around broad issues. She had written her own appearances on Richard & Judy (Ch4) on subjects as diverse as the Modern-Day Mother-In-Law Joke, 1930′s Advice for Young Brides and the ‘Good Idea a Day’ Website. She is a regular contributor to the Vanessa Feltz Show (BBC London) and has written topical material for The Jeremy Vine Show (BBC Radio 2) RI:SE (Ch4) and the LBC Weekend Breakfast Show. She also appeared on and wrote material for the Topical News Quiz ‘Pilau Talk’ for Anglia Television. Angie has also written for Cosmopolitan Magazine and numerous parodies and comic messages for ZeProd, a leading mobile-phone-message provider, and recently contributed as a researcher/writer to the humour book “Practical Spying: A Handbook For Everyday Espionage,” to be published later this year in the U.S. by National Geographic Books
