Andrew O'Neill

Andrew O’Neill is a stand up comedian, musician, writer, presenter and actor. He is also a metalhead, an occultist, a history buff, a vegan and a transvestite; subjects which have informed his material for over a decade of comedy, and helped him build a devoted fan base of outsiders and mainstream comedy fans alike. As a comic Andrew has appeared on BBC 2’s Nevermind The Buzzcocks and Stewart Lee’s Comedy Vehicle, and has acted in Steve Coogan’s Saxondale and Radio 4’s Fags, Mags and Bags, he’s also a regular presenter on 4Extra’s science fiction strand The Seventh Dimension. Andrew has written and performed a series of acclaimed Edinburgh Fringe and touring shows, most recently Andrew O’Neill’s History Of Heavy Metal, and the more surreal, sillier Mindspiders both garnering rave reviews from publications as diverse as Kerrang! And the The Scotsman at the 2014 Fringe, these follow over ten years of Fringe shows starting with Winston Churchill Was Jack The Ripper in 2006, which he still performs as a walking tour around the Ripper murder sites in east London.  He was nominated as Best Breakthrough Act by Chortle in 2009 and has received Best Show nods at the Leicester and Adelaide comedy festivals. Outside of comedy Andrew plays guitar and sings in the popular Steampunk band The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing, who have released two albums of Punk Victoriana, toured extensively in the UK and USA and performed at the Glastonbury, Bestival and Latitude festivals, amongst numerous others. A third album is expected in 2015.  He has also written regularly for the extreme metal magazine Terrorizer and blogs about transvestisms and gender-dysphoria.
